In August 1967, this school was established as the Xue Dong Branch of Nanxing Elementary School in Tainan City, initially with two classes, later increasing to five classes (with sixth-graders returning to the main school). In September 1978, it was renamed Xue Dong Branch School (approved by Tainan City Government Order No. 5335 Nan-Shi-Jiao-Guo dated February 13, 1978, forwarded by the Department of Education Order No. 17480 Jiao-Si dated February 2, 1978, to be renamed Xue Dong Branch School from the first semester of the 1978 academic year). Subsequently, local figures, parents from Xuejia Liao, and local public representatives actively sought independent establishment of the school. After more than ten years of effort, with the permission of Mayor Xu Tiancai, Xue Dong Branch School was approved to be independent as Xue Dong Elementary School on August 1, 2002.
